I answer hate with love,
I never lose my mind.
No matter what you look like,
Which color you have,
I will greet you with a smile.
I will say Hello to you.
And I never get tired.
Even after three years in the camp,
I will never grow tired,
of saying hello to a person,
that is crossing my path.
How could I pass you without saying:
Hello!
How are you?
Even if I'm shy,
and I surely am an introvert,
I will never grow tired of saying
Hello, and how are you?
They can't break my smile.
And guess what?
I always get a smile and a hello as an answer.
People won't hate me.
Because I make a difference.
I'm seeing you as a person,
that is crossing my path.
You may be an old woman with Hijab
and worries all over your face.
You may be an old man with no language,
just saying Salaam and answering with laughter and "Hello, hello".
You may be a young woman with a little child,
far away from your husband, maybe got raped.
You may be a young man, who had to leave his family back home,
insecure and without good friends here.
You may be a child,
laughing all over your worried face.
I don't mind, who you are.
The sun shines through you,
when I greet you,
and it reflects in my eyes,
when you smile back to me.
We connect.
With no effort.
Just caught up in humanity.
I love your smile.
